Sun Siyam Iru Fushi has appointed Julia Marimootoo as Public Relations and Communications Manager, as the resort moves to refine its positioning within the competitive luxury hospitality segment.
The appointment comes at a time when the property is undergoing a broader transformation across its product offering and brand identity. In her new role, Marimootoo will be responsible for shaping and delivering the resort’s communications strategy, ensuring that its evolving narrative is effectively positioned across international markets.
Her responsibilities include overseeing brand messaging, managing media relations and coordinating with Sun Siyam’s global PR agency network to maintain consistency in communication and enhance global visibility. The focus is on presenting the resort not only as a destination, but as a curated premium experience aligned with contemporary traveller expectations.
The role also involves communicating recent developments at the resort, including updates to villas, interiors and dining venues. Among the key offerings is the introduction of a 24-hour premium all-inclusive dine-around concept, designed to provide guests with greater flexibility and a wider range of dining options throughout the day.
Marimootoo brings a background in human sciences and institutional communications, offering an analytical perspective to guest experience and service delivery. Her approach is expected to support the integration of brand strategy with operational execution, ensuring that guest-facing experiences reflect the intended positioning.
The appointment reflects a broader trend within the Maldivian hospitality sector, where resorts are increasingly investing in strategic communications and brand differentiation to remain competitive in a rapidly evolving global market.
